The Yucatan peninsula extends northward from the rest of Mexico and Central America, dividing the Caribbean Sea from The Gulf of Mexico. Besides three Mexican states (Campeche, Yucatan and Quintana Roo, the peninsula includes the nation of Belize and northern Guatamala.
Mar Sisal is located in Yucatan state, near the capital city of Merida.
The geography of coastal Yucatan state is much like that of South Florida in the USA. It’s primarily flatlands (highest elevation around 30 feet) with coral rock (limestone) covered by a thin layer of topsoil that supports a variety of low tropical vegetation.
The state’s Gulf Coastal region is a complex of mangrove lagoons with brackish waters tucked away behind white sand beaches and segments of land suitable for development.
The climate is tropical, with temperature ranging from the high 90s to the mid 60s with an average temperature in the mid 80s - year round.

Mar Sisal is within easy driving distance of some of the most beautiful natural wonders of the Yucatan and site of Mayan cities and temples.
From its own beautiful white beaches and nearby coral reefs to the jungles of Quintana Roo (Chetumal is the capital) a few hours away, Mar Sisal isn’t far from the many splendors of the Yucatan.

Cenote (cavern) diving in the Yucatan
The Yucatan has wondrous reefs to explore off the Gulf and Caribbean coasts.
It also has many giant underground cenotes, many filled with crystal clear waters that provide an excellent venue for cave diving.
Some cenotes offer a unique rappelling or base jumping opportunity.
